The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
It's been a loooong time, Lovelies, but I've been away on good cause. I've been reading The Hunger Games! Yes, believe all the hype. This book gets an A+++, or whatever grade is better than that.
I'm sure you've all heard about this wonderful trilogy centered around a changed North American government. In this book we imagine this changed condition through the eyes of Katniss Everdeen, a teenager whose little sister was to be in "this years" Hunger Games. Now, let me explain what these "Hunger Games" are exactly.
After the government was taken over by "The Capitol" and President Snow, there was a revolution; an attempt to overthrow him and the Capitol. Unfortunately this was not possible and as a sort of punishment or reminder, President Snow instated the Hunger Games where children and teens from each district, two to be exact, must fight to the death. There can only be one victor but that changes this year, the year Katniss Evergreen fights in the games. As the narrator, Katniss takes us into the arena where the Tributes are to hunt and kill each other.
There is a love triangle thrown in the mix but nothing as intense and nauseating as the Twilight Saga. Thank God! The lack of "intensity" doesn't keep us from picking teams though and we still want to see these "love stories" come to a conclusion.
As of this moment I've said enough! Go read this book, I urge you. *Whispers dramatically* I'm a hairs-breath away from finishing the second one, Catching Fire. I promise you, you won't regret it.
HAPPY READING! And "May the odds be ever in your favor".
